Over the past eight months, We Are Birmingham has worked hard to provide a unique opportunity for Birmingham’s public to engage with the city’s thriving artistic community in a city centre retail environment.
Owing to challenging trading conditions, the We Are Birmingham team, as responsible directors, have taken the extremely difficult decision to cease trading as a retail operation and are now investigating ways to move the organisation towards a new model, offering valuable exhibition space and meeting rooms at it’s city centre location, whilst still working to support the local creative community.
We will be working with artists and creditors over the coming weeks and months to ensure responsible management and collection of outstanding payments and stock. We’ll be contacting artists directly to arrange collection of their work and with over 300 artists, this will be coordinated in an organised manner. As We are Birmingham is volunteer staffed, it may be a few weeks before you are contacted. We ask that you bear with us during this period.
We Are Birmingham thanks the artists, volunteers and members of the retail and creative communities throughout the region who have supported and encouraged the enterprise to date, enabling it to generate thousand of pounds in sales and commissions for artists from across the West Midlands, and hope that it can continue to fly the flag for the thriving artistic and cultural movements within the region.
