Selling your work in the We Are Birmingham shop

We Are Birmingham is nothing without its suppliers.

You may be an experienced seller, you may never have sold anything you have created. To us it doesn’t matter, we’d like to give everyone an equal chance of selling their work in the shop.

If you would like to show us your work please book an appointment with us on 0121 236 5808.

We are very open minded about what we sell. The shop is always evolving so if you have interesting ideas we would like to hear from you.

If you have no experience selling your work we are ready and willing to advise on packaging and pricing your work.

Pricing and Artist Commission Structure

Being not for profit, we’re not like most other businesses. We sell your work to put money in your pockets, not ours, and we want to make sure we sell as much as possible.

We apply a pricing approach that protects the artist’s sale return, whilst allowing us to set prices to a level we believe is appropriate for your product and flex them if necessary to maximise sales opportunity.

So how does it work?

1)    You work out your cost to produce and add on the profit you want to make.  This is your sale return.

2)    We discuss this with you in terms of the likely price point your work is likely to achieve.  There may be some negotiation at this stage if we think it’s a product we couldn’t sell at a price point above the return you require, but in the majority of cases the return you want will be the one we agree to.

3)    That figure we agree with you is fixed and it’s down to WaB to determine what we think is an achievable sale price.  So if you agree a sale return of £15 for a piece and we sell the item for £40, you get £15. If we sell it for £30 you get £15. If we sell it for £15.01p, you get £15.

What this gives us is the flexibility to change price points of items to hit a realistic sale value, thus increasing the chance of your items being sold.

For example, a customer comes into the shop and says “I like that picture but at £80 it’s a bit too pricey for me.” With our flexible  pricing approach, we might offer to discount the sale price to £70 which could lead to the customer making a purchase.  It doesn’t affect the amount you would get from the successful sale, that is fixed.

We eat into our profit margins to make the sale, not yours.

If after all that you would like to submit your work please contact the shop on

We will then have a look and advise you further about selling your work.
